Opportunity is the right word for this team. We don’t need sponsors, we need partners. Sponsorship is a one way street with one party getting benefit from another party. Our program is different. We want to partner with companies to give back to those that give so generously to us. We want to engage with our partners with their support, suggestions, and community outreach.
About Our Team
Established in 2015, as a Rookie team, we made it to State Championship. Following that success, we qualified for the State Championship the following season (2016). We have grown from two mentors and five students, to twelve mentors and thirty-four students. The team mentors are focused on transforming these young adults into productive critical thinkers. They learn to design, craft, and troubleshoot with complex systems, as well as communicate their ideas and plans with their peers and supervisors.
FIRST Robotics Competition
It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Robotic Competition teams (10+ members, grades 9-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge on an alliance. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!” Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (such as keeping an engineering notebook) while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and communication as a team.
